Is my child dyslexic quiz, answer top dyslexia questions

Dyslexia is a common learning challenge that affects many children and adults. It makes it hard to read, write, and spell. Dyslexia doesn't mean someone is not smart. It can make school and other things harder.

This quiz helps you find signs of dyslexia in your child. Answer the questions honestly. This quiz is not a diagnosis tool. A doctor can test your child for dyslexia.

If you worry about your child's reading or writing, talk to their teacher or a school counsellor. Early help can make a big difference for kids with dyslexia.

Section 1: Reading

  1. Does your child struggle to decode or sound out unfamiliar words?
  2. Does your child often omit, add, or substitute words when reading aloud?
  3. Does your child have difficulty blending sounds to form words?
  4. Does your child hesitate, pause, or repeat words or phrases when reading?
  5. Does your child confuse similar-looking letters or words?
  6. Does your child reverse letters or words when reading or writing?
  7. Does your child have difficulty understanding what they have read?
  8. Does your child avoid reading or read very slowly?
  9. Does your child have difficulty following directions or remembering details?
  10. Does your child have difficulty with sequencing or organising information?

Section 2: Writing

  1. Does your child make frequent spelling mistakes, even for simple words?
  2. Does your child have difficulty with handwriting, such as messy or illegible writing?
  3. Does your child have difficulty organising thoughts and ideas into writing?
  4. Does your child avoid writing or write very little?
  5. Does your child have difficulty with grammar, punctuation, or capitalisation?
  6. Does your child make frequent errors in word order or sentence structure?
  7. Does your child have difficulty proofreading their work?

Section 3: Other Considerations

  1. Does your child have difficulty with oral language skills, such as blending sounds or following directions?
  2. Does your child have difficulty with motor skills, such as catching a ball or coordinating movements?
  3. Does your child have difficulty with memory, such as remembering names or appointments?
  4. Does your child have difficulty with attention or focus?
  5. Does your child have difficulty with time management or organisation?
  6. Does your child have difficulty with directions or following instructions?

Scoring

If you answered "yes" to several questions in both sections, there is a possibility that your child may be dyslexic. However, it is important to note that this quiz is not a diagnostic tool, and a formal evaluation by a qualified professional is necessary to confirm a diagnosis of dyslexia.

Next Steps

If you are concerned about your child's reading or writing skills, it is important to talk to their teacher. They can assess your child's progress and recommend additional support or testing if necessary. Early identification and intervention can make a significant difference in a child's success with dyslexia.
